The Aarohi Bal Sansar was started thirteen years ago, as a primary school on demand from the local community. There was a belief that this school could offer higher standards of learning than those found in the government run schools. For the organization it was an opportunity to delve deeper into the issue of learning for children, curriculum and beyond the curriculum.

The school today has 80 children on its rolls. It provides a space for creative learning with the objective of equipping children with a strong foundation in languages, mathematics and science. Co-curricular activities include sports, music, dance and theatre, art and craft, environment education and educational tours.

The infrastructure of the school is being developed to cater to the rising popularity of the school and incorporate better facilities. Two classrooms have been added along with a computer room housing 10 computers. A new building being constructed will have two additional classrooms, a cultural room, a skill development centre with an art and craft room, a kitchen and dining hall, a library, a science room and a teacher’s staff room.

Along with these buildings, the school playground has been extended and is being developed as a large open air auditorium for sports and cultural events.

The school has looked intensely at developing supplementary curriculum to enhance learning of children through reading scripts supplemented with audio cassettes to aid pronunciation. A wide variety of books from the Children’s Book Trust and the National Book Trust both in Hindi and English have been added to the library to get children into the habit of reading.

Teachers have had training workshops in lesson planning and execution, remedial English, and teaching science and mathematics through simple toys made of paper and waste.
Due to increasing parental demand, the school has extended its classes till sixth standard from this year.
